Italy - Festa a Poggio Aquilone...

If there is one thing italians know how to do (besides eating and talking loudly) it's throw a party. Or as I should say, a 'Festa'.
And what a festa it was.
On saturday afternoon we drove out to a tiny little village called Poggio Aquilone. With its medieval feel and mere 120 local inhabitants, the place came alive as hundreds of people from neighboring villages arrived for a night of food, music & dancing.

For the first time, in a long while, I felt very home sick.
Marquees, tresel tables, music, people talking (screaming) at each other in italian, laughter, nonna's & nonno's dancing with their grandchildren, and the smell of delicious food cooking... I could have closed my eyes and been at any one of my family gatherings.
It brought be straight back home and reminded me of everything I love about my family & the times we get to spend together. There is something about italians, and being italian, that just makes everything so much bigger, and louder and more wonderful.

So we drank, we ate, we danced under a glorious full moon.
Such an great night to end a wonderful getaway to a country I will always love & adore.
